About the Position
The Emerging Technology Integrated Design & Manufacturing lab at HCD, IIITD invites applications for a fully-funded PhD position focused on exploring and investigating emerging technologies including Extended reality (XR)/ (AR, VR, MR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twin, Internet Of Things (IoT), Haptic Technology and Finite Element Method (FEM).
The project will employ emerging technologies to develop smart training, tutorial and evaluation systems in the context of Industry 4.0 and Education 4.0. The lab aims to explore advanced technologies and conduct interdisciplinary research to overcome existing challenges in diverse fields for example, education, healthcare, manufacturing, teleoperation and guidance for safety.
The successful candidates will be able to access world-class research facilities and may also get an opportunity to visit Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia for student exchange programs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational background: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
- Technical skills: Knowledge and experience in VR/AR/MR technologies will be encouraged. Prior experience with AI and ML technologies is desirable. Programming skills in Python, C++, C# or other relevant programming languages is required.
- Analytical skills: Proficiency in the design, execution, and data analysis of user studies. Logical and critical thinking ability.
- Design skills: Experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, or related areas is beneficial.
- Soft skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Identifying PhD research problem and writing a research proposal to elaborate the problem statement.
- Implementing the research ideas within the proposed timeline.
- Developing various software and hardware skills for project implementation.
- Conducting experiments and writing high-quality research articles for SCI journals.
- Designing and teaching new course for undergraduate and postgraduate level.
