Applications are invited for Admission to MTech Programme 2023 at IIT Jammu. The last date to fill out the application form is April 19, 2023.
The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu was inaugurated on 6th August 2016 and welcomed the first batch of students into the campus in Paloura, Jammu. In the initial phases, the establishment of IIT Jammu was done under the mentorship of IIT Delhi. In 2018, IIT Jammu shifted the primary operations to the Main Campus in Jagti, Nagrota. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has provided land for the establishment of a permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology in Jammu, which consists of 400 acres. Currently, Phase 1 A of the main campus, spread across 25 acres, is operational. Phase 1 B and 1 C are undergoing construction.

M. Tech in Civil Engineering with specialization in Tunnel Engineering | 1. For the General category candidates, the minimum requirement is 65% marks in aggregate/equivalent CGPA in B.E./B.Tech./AMIE Civil Engineering. 2. For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PWD candidates, a relaxation of 5% or 0.5 CGPA of the above criterion is allowed. 3. The candidate must have a valid GATE scorecard with the GATE paper code CE. Note: Candidates who fulfill the above criteria, will be called for a written exam followed by an interview. Only selected candidates who score above the cutoff marks in the written exam will be called for an interview. The cutoff marks will be decided by the M.Tech. selection committee. Merely appearing for the written exam will not guarantee a call for an interview. Based on the GATE score and performance in the written exam and interview, only the selected candidates will be communicated with an offer for admission to M.Tech. in Tunnel Engineering. |
M. Tech in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering | 1. For the General category candidates, the minimum requirement is 65% marks in aggregate/equivalent CGPA in B.E./B.Tech./AMIE Civil Engineering. 2. M. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering | 1. Candidates should have qualified for their qualifying degree (B.Tech/B.E./M.Sc.) in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, and Statistics. 2. The candidates must have a valid GATE Score card with a minimum of 300 scores (for the SC/ST category the minimum is 200 score). Computer Science and Engineering (CS), Electronics Engineering (EC), Mathematics (MA), and Statistics (ST) would be the required subject specializations for the GATE examination. Candidates who have qualified AMIE or Grad IETE qualifications will also be considered for admission based on their performance in AMIE/Grad IETE. Such candidates will have to complete 24 valid credits specified by the concerned DPGC along with a valid GATE score. Note: Above mentioned criterion is the primary screening criterion and further technical rounds of tests and/or interviews will be conducted for selecting the candidates. |
M. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Three years) | 1. Candidates should have qualified for their qualifying degree (B.Tech/B.E./M.Sc.) in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, and Statistics. The candidates must have a valid GATE Score card with a minimum of 300 scores (for the SC/ST category the minimum is 200 score). Computer Science and Engineering (CS), Electronics Engineering (EC), Mathematics (MA), and Statistics (ST) would be the required subject specializations for the GATE examination. 2. BE/B.Tech./MSc in Electronics Engineering/Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Telecommunication/Electrical Engineering/allied streams with 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. 2. A minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA in secondary (X) and senior secondary (XII) school examinations. A relaxation of 5% marks or equivalent will be given in either secondary (X) or senior secondary (XII) school examinations. 3. The candidates must have a valid GATE Score card with a minimum of 300 scores (for the SC/ST/PWD category the minimum is 200 score) with an EC paper code. Note: Candidates will be screened based on B.E./B.Tech. marks and GATE score, and will be called for a written test and/or interview based on screening criteria. |
M. Tech in Electrical Engineering with specialization in VLSI Design | 1. BE/B.Tech./MSc in Electronics Engineering/Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Telecommunication/Electrical Engineering/allied streams with 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. 2. A minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA in secondary (X) and senior secondary (XII) school examinations. A relaxation of 5% marks or equivalent will be given in either secondary (X) or senior secondary (XII) school examinations. 3. M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermal and Energy System | 1. Candidates should have B.E./B.Tech/AMIE in Mechanical Engineering. 2. General category candidates should have a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate or a minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale. A relaxation of 5% will be given to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/EWS candidates. 3. Candidates should have a valid score card of GATE qualified in Mechanical Engineering (ME), or in Engineering Sciences (XE) papers. Candidates who appeared for the Engineering Sciences (XE) paper, should have written both Fluid Mechanics (XE-B) and Thermodynamics (XE-F) papers. |
M. Tech in Chemical Engineering with specialization in Sustainable Energy Engineering | 1. Candidates should have B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering/ Chemical Technology/ Bio-Chemical Engineering/ Energy Engineering/ Petroleum Engineering/ Nanotechnology Engineering & Production Engineering. 2. General category candidates should have a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate or a minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale. A relaxation of 5% will be given to the SC/ST/OBCNCL/PWD/EWS candidates. 3. Candidates should have a valid scorecard of GATE qualified in either Chemical Engineering (CH) or Petroleum Engineering (PE). Note: Candidates will be screened based on B.E./B.Tech. marks and GATE score, and will be called for a written test and/or interview based on screening criteria |
Application Fee per department (non-refundable): Rs.300/- for General/Gen-EWS/OBC category and
Rs.200/- for SC/ST/PWD category candidates. The candidates can deposit the requisite application fee by
using net banking or debit/credit card facilities. Additional charges will be applicable as per the rule of the
concerned bank. The Fee will not be accepted through any other mode.
The reservation of seats in admissions for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS categories, and for Persons with Disability
(PwD) will be as per Govt. of India guidelines.
It is mandatory for all candidates applying for M.Tech programs to register at the Common Offer Acceptance Portal https://coap.iitkgp.ac.in/ and the COAP registration number is mandatory for filling out the application form on the IIT Jammu application portal. Admission offers will be made through the COAP portal. The applicant is responsible for the information provided. IIT Jammu or COAP does not take any responsibility for the wrong information provided by the candidates and further consequences.
After registering on the COAP website, the candidates shall complete the application form on the IIT Jammu website. For admission to M.Tech. Programs, candidates need to register and fill out the online application by accessing the website https://eg.iitjammu.ac.in/pgapplication. Only online applications will be accepted.
