The Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy, Visakhapatnam has initiated the Summer Internship Programme (SIP) from the year 2022. The SIP is open to pre-final year students of B.E./B.Tech. and M.Sc./M.S./M.Tech. from different Indian Institutions and offers internship for 8-weeks.
The SIP at the IIPE provides the students a platform to explore their research potential by undertaking focused research projects with young and dynamic faculty at the IIPE. The purpose of the SIP is to motivate the students in pursuing their career in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The SIP Interns are required to give a presentation of the work carried out in the first four weeks to an assessment committee. The assessment committee constitutes Head of the Department as Chairperson, Associate Dean of R&D, Mentor of the concerned SIP intern.
The assessment committee gives feedback and suggests possible improvements in the work. At the end of the internship, all the SIP Interns need to make a poster presentation of the work carried out, which is open to the public. A commendation certificate will be given to the SIP Interns who display research inquisitiveness and innovative mind during the internship.
