The IITM – Summer Fellowship Programme of two months with stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young Engineering, Management, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal oriented summer mini-project undertaken at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Starting in 2018, IIT Roorkee offers institute-funded (with a stipend of Rs. 2,500/week) and project-funded summer internships under the SPARK program. The objective of this program is to attract and nurture talented undergraduate students across the country. The program has been highly successful so far, with 15000+ applications last year, out of which 120+ offers were made.

The work of the interns was well recognized and also resulted in many research publications in reputed journals and international conferences. IIT Roorkee is organizing institute-funded SPARK fellowships for summer internships with a weekly stipend of ₹2500/week and project-funded summer internships in Summer 2024.

IITB Research Internship Award is designed to be an educational and professional research experience. These awards are available for specific research projects. The details of these projects are made available to the candidates so that they can apply for projects of their interest and can prepare themselves well for a rigorous selection procedure. The number of interns will be restricted to the number of projects available.

IIT Palakkad, has a summer internship program which aims at introducing undergraduate and postgraduate students to research so as to enthuse them, and to get them interested in a career in teaching and research. This is a  six-weeks long residential program and it combines hands-on research training with a variety of hardware and software analysis tools.

Every year the Department hosts a huge number of excellent quality interns during the summer (typically June/July). The interns are independently shortlisted by either one or a group of faculties. During their stay at IIT Kharagpur they are exposed to cutting edge research problems and trained in world-class technologies required to execute such projects. Students-Undergraduate Research Graduate Excellence (SURGE) program is an internship Program of IIT Kanpur, which runs under the aegis of Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), IIT Kanpur.

SURGE program was launched and inaugurated on 8 May 2006 by Professor Sanjay G. Dhande, the then Director, IIT Kanpur. Since inception, the SURGE program has grown, providing more and more research opportunities to young scholars than the year before.

IIT Delhi has instituted a prestigious Summer Research Fellowship Programme. It provides an opportunity to exceptionally good undergraduate students to execute an innovative research and development project under the guidance of IIT Delhi faculty. The students of different engineering institutes except IITs in India or abroad who are within Top ten ranks in their respective programme/ branch are eligible to apply.

In order to popularize high performance computing (HPC) among the student community in India, the NSM Nodal Center for Training in HPC and AI at IIT Goa invites applications for internships as listed in the table below. These will be Remote Internships. There is an internship stipend of Rs. 8,000 per month, pro-rata basis, for a maximum of three months.

However, all selected interns will be paid their internship stipends only upon successful completion of the internship, as certified by the internship guides. These internships are supported by the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) of the Govt. of India together with CDAC.
