List of 9 Upcoming Hackathon 2025 in India

1. Smart India Hackathon

Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving.

The first four editions SIH2017, SIH2018, SIH2019, SIH2020, SIH2022 and SIH2023 proved to be extremely successful in promoting innovation out-of-the-box thinking in young minds, especially engineering students from across India.

  • Eligibility: Regular Students of HEI’s pursuing “Graduate/Post-Graduate/Ph.D” will be able to showcase their talent and generate out-of-the-box open innovation ideas.
  • Dates: Aug-Sept 2025
  • Prizes: 3 teams per nodal center will be selected of which 1st prize money will be Rs 1 Lac and 2nd of Rs 75000 and 3rd will be Rs 50000.

2. Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025 HACKATHON (January – March, 2024)

The IIITA, in collaboration with Mela Pradhikaran Prayagraj and the UP government, organized a hackathon aimed at providing a platform for developing effective solutions for various issues associated with the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj.

  • Themes:
    • Theme 1 focused on Security, Surveillance, Mobility, and Crowd Management, encouraging the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, and Machine Learning. A total of 107 teams participated in this theme, showcasing their solutions tailored to address the complex challenges of managing large crowds effectively.
    • Theme 2 centered on Extended Reality Solutions for enhancing pilgrim governance, exploring applications such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and the Metaverse. Nineteen teams participated in this theme, presenting immersive and innovative solutions to enhance the pilgrim experience and governance.
    • Theme 3 emphasized Service Level Benchmarking for assets, inventory, facilities, and utilities monitoring and management, encouraging the utilization of drones, QR codes, and facial recognition technologies. Forty-four teams participated in this theme, offering solutions aimed at optimizing resource management and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Prizes: Prizes of Rs. 3 Lakhs

3. KU Hackathon 2025

Kalinga University, Naya Raipur, has emerged as a centre of excellence of higher education in Central India. Strategically located in the Smart City of Naya Raipur, this University has started carving a niche for itself in the education domain and is rising as a shining star on the horizon of quality education.

  • Domains:  KU Hackathon is based on 4 Domains- Smart Automation, Green Technology, Smart City and Block Chain Technology.

Girl Hackathon is a program for women students in computer science and allied courses across India. It has been designed to provide a platform for women in the engineering campus space to showcase their coding skills and promote creative solutions for real time technical challenges. 9. MSME Idea Hackathon 4.0 for Women Entrepreneurs

The objective of the scheme is to promote and support untapped creativity and to promote the adoption of the latest technologies in MSMEs that seek the validation of their ideas at the proof-of-concept level. The scheme also supports engagement with enablers who will advise such MSMEs in expanding their business by supporting them in design, strategy and execution.

  • Eligibility: Registration as Host Institute (HI): Institutions such as Technical Colleges, Universities, other Professional Colleges/Institutes, R&D Institutes, NGOs involved in incubation activities, MSME-DIs/ Technology Centres or any Institute/Organization of Central/State Government may apply for registration as an HI and act as a Business Incubator (BI) for nurturing of ideas from the initial stage of conceptualization to the commercialization stage through HIs/ BIs.
  • Benefits: Financial assistance up-to maximum of Rs. 15 lakh per approved idea shall be provided to the Host Institute for developing and nurturing of the idea into prototype.
