What is the Justicemakers’ Mela?

Hundreds of people working on transforming legal systems and improving access to justice meet at the Agami Summit every year. This year, the gathering for innovators in law and justice will be much larger. 600 changemakers will come together for the ‘Justicemakers Mela 2024’, which will draw from local innovations and Indigenous wisdom aside from showcasing pan-India legal and justice innovations. Who will be Attending the Mela?

The Mela will see participation from a wide array of attendees, including:

  • Grassroots Innovators and Community Leaders
  • Legal- and Justice-tech Innovators and Industry Leaders.
  • Students, Technologists and Designers
  • Legal Professionals, Judicial Officers and Government Actors

What to Expect at the Mela?

  • A variety of sessions around three key themes: Nyay Shakti (Power), Samadhan (Resolution), and Utthaan (Revival/Upliftment). Nyay Shakti invites you to reflect on the strength within yourself and your community to inspire justice and equity; Samadhan discusses the art and science of conflict and dispute resolution in communities, systems and the being of people themselves; and Utthaan brings a spirit of revival and regeneration of people, organizations, and the planet.
  • Innovation Mela: Showcase of about 50 change-making ideas from all corners of the country.
  • 8+ Justicemaker Showcases Stories of justice-making by eight incredible changemakers from the field.
  • Art & Music: Performances by and interactions with artists whose work and values are integral to the journeys of justice empowerment.

At the Mela, you can meet industry experts and a supportive community of peers and unlock endless possibilities for moving forward in your journey!

Call for Expression of Interest

We invite an expression of interest to attend the Justicemakers Mela 2024 from students interested in working on law and justice-related issues they have identified and want to solve creatively. You needn’t have started your initiative. Still, even if you are initially identifying or solving a problem, the Justicemakers Mela is where you’ll meet others like you. Let us know through the form why you’d like to be at the Mela, and we’ll offer 20 selected students a Free Pass to come!
