About IIT Ropar

The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar is one of the eight IITs set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India in 2008. In keeping with the spirit of the IIT system, this institute is committed to providing state-of-the-art technical education in a variety of fields, and also to facilitating the transmission of knowledge using the latest developments in pedagogy.

About the Summer Internship

Applications are invited for Summer Internship Programme for 5 to 8 weeks commencing from May 15th, 2023 to July 15th, 2023 without any fellowship. The internship will be in offline mode. The candidates are required to apply online from IITs, NITs, IISERs, National Labs, Centrally funded technical Institutions, CEAs, Government Universities, and Private institutions/Universities. Indian Academy of Sciences, DST Inspire, or a similar organization.

The department will select the students on the basis of the research area, academic credentials, etc., and the number of slots available for a summer internship.

  • Center for Applied Research in Data Sciences.
  • Chemical Engineering.
  • Chemistry.
  • Civil Engineering.
  • Computer Science and Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering.
  • Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • Mathematics.
  • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Metallurgical & Materials Engineering.
  • Physics.

The last date for submission of applications is April 16th, 2023.

Important Note

  • The candidates must select a Research area in their relevant field of study/ course. They have an option in the form to select at most 3 Research areas.
  • The Candidates are required to do their internship in one department under one supervisor only. If they are found doing the opposite, their internship will be treated as null and void and no certificate will be issued.
  • Hostel accommodation on sharing basis will be provided subject to availability on a chargeable basis. “The application for accommodation (only after being selected for internship) should reach the office of the Dean of Student Affairs through the faculty supervisor and the HOD for permission. The cost towards food and access to other amenities have to be paid by the student.”
  • The area of research indicated in the advertisement is general.
  • The number of slots advertised in the departments will vary. The Institute reserves the right to increase or decrease the slots.
  • No financial assistance will be provided to the candidates.
