About Eco-Creativity & Innovation Hackathon
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, in collaboration with Amazon.in and Pi Jam Foundation, has launched the ‘Eco Creativity and Innovation Hackathon’ on Thursday, September 26, 2024. The Eco-Hackathon aims to inspire students to become problem-solvers for ecological issues using technology and innovation.
Under the program, students from 6th to 12th grade in government schools are invited to participate from fourteen states: Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

Application Process
- Each student is permitted to submit only one application, yet there is no limit to the number of applications that may be submitted by a particular school.
- Students may apply under a range of themes such as Energy Conservation, Rejecting Single-Use Plastic, Water Preservation, Embracing Sustainable Food Practices, Waste Reduction, Pursuing a Healthy Lifestyle, and Minimizing Electronic Waste.

- Subsequently, students are required to watch the video displayed on their screens, complete the activities as instructed, and then submit a problem statement related to the provided environmental themes, along with its solution.
- Participants will receive video content that explains various life themes and introduces block-based coding projects, which will assist them in ideation.
- Initially, participants are required to submit a detailed proposal of their solution. Prototype development will be necessary at later stages for those finalists who are shortlisted.
- Upon being shortlisted, finalists will receive the necessary materials, mentorship, and guidance to develop projects that demonstrate the practical application of their ideas.
- Significantly, Amazon and Pi Jam will recognize the top achievers in three distinct categories: Class 6th to 8th, Class 9th to 12th, and undergraduate and postgraduate students, during a ceremony in Delhi.
