The challenges we are asking you to complete are all designed with the idea that you will help show the power and potential of Volt MX. As you approach these problems we ask that you be creative, thoughtful, and of course – have fun!

Themes

  • Build an app with Volt MX.
  • Build reusable components or modules with Volt Iris.
  • Build custom adapters to integrate with third-party services/data stores with Volt Foundry.
  • Utilize Volt Iris and Volt Foundry to build an app with stunning UI.
  • Open Innovation.
  • Leverage Digital Content & Assets.

Rules

  • This is a team participation hackathon. You can have at most 5 members in your team.
  • You can either invite your friends to form a team or you can request other teams to add you as a member.
  • The hackathon will start on Mar 13, 2023, at 12:00 PM PST and end on May 14, 2023, at 11:59 PM PST, you work on your hack during the allotted time only.
  • It’s an online hackathon, you can participate from anywhere.
  • There are 5 themes of the hackathon, you must submit a hack that is in one of these themes.
  • Once the hackathon starts, you will get an option to submit your hack, you can submit as many times as you want, and the last hack will be considered the final submission.
  • You are expected to come up with new and innovative ideas, any idea that has been copied from somewhere will be disqualified.
  • Your hack must be developed entirely during the Hackathon duration. You may use open-source libraries and other freely available systems/services such as Google Maps, Facebook Connect, Twitter feeds, etc.

Judging Criteria

  1. Degree of innovation(30%): How unique is the idea? Does it make people go “wow”? How does it leverage the Volt MX framework? Is the technical design novel? Does it provide a unique solution to a problem that many people have?
  2. Business Value(25%): Does it provide a solution to a problem that many people have? Impact of the solution: Does it improve the productivity of fellow developers etc? Quantum of value add that the solution brings to the product. Is it improving the consumer experience?
  3. How practical is it? (20%): Is the idea/solution/app practical enough to be used in the real world? Can it scale enough to accommodate real-world scenarios? Is the architecture technically sound? Is it generic to be applied across domains? How viable is the solution?
  4. Creativity & Appearance (15%): Is your work creative? Does your app/solution look nice?
  5. Bonus points(10%): Completeness of the solution. Does it encompass more than one theme? Performance of the solution or app. Reusability of the solution.

Submissions

All projects must contain the following in their submission:

  • Project overview (3-4 sentences explaining what you built)
  • Link to the source code
  • Volt MX App preview code (if applicable) 
  • Web app link (if applicable)
  • Link to binary (apk, ipa, zip) (optional if app preview is provided)
  • A presentation (in the form of a PowerPoint or youtube video) of your project
    • Youtube – no longer than 4 minutes.
    • PPT – no more than 15 slides.
