United hack 2023 is a global online hackathon that helps showcase your abilities and collaborate with like minded individuals to make a meaningful project. The event is a 2-day hackathon with an exciting set of prizes.

About United Hack 2023

United Hacks serves as the flagship hackathon organized by Hack United, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiration, education, and collaboration among the next generation of innovators. The primary aim in this hackathon is to provide a semi-competitive event where participants can unleash their creative potential while promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

During the hackathon, they will offer a range of workshops, ensuring that participants can learn and acquire new skills. Regardless of your experience level, whether you have never written a line of code or are a seasoned programmer, you are more then welcome to join.

This hackathons theme is Mental Health! It is not mandatory to submit a project relating to mental health, as there will be prizes for a general track as well. In addition to these two main tracks, they also offer awards for various miscellaneous categories.

Project and Submission Requirements

  • Your project must be original, it may not be directly copied from another source. You may not use code written previous to this hackathon. All code must be written in the given time span.
  • Your team may have up to 4 people, although, you may work individually as well
  • You must submit your project on time, and the project submission must contain a github repo with the source code and a video explaining & demoing the project.
  • Your entry must be in English.
  • You have to sign-up on Devpost, joining the Discord is recommended, but optional.

Eligibility

  • You must be of ages 13+, and a high school or college student.

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity
    Is the project a new idea? Does the project provide a new experience or simplify an existing workflow?
  • Practicality
    Could this idea actually be implemented in real life? Would people be motivated to use it? Is it a functioning solution that can scale in the real world?
  • Presentation
    Is the project pitched in a convincing and engaging manner? Is the idea presented clearly and in a way that’s easy to approach?
  • Technical Complexity
    Does the project involve complex technologies or intricate systems? How relevant are the solutions your project presents?
  • Design
    Is the UI design user-friendly and intuitive? Does the design enhance user experience and engagement?

Can I join as a beginner?

Of course! They will provide more resources to help you build your project.

Do I have to pay to enter?

Nope! The hackathon is completely free to compete in.

How does finding a team work?

You can choose your own team members, or work solo. Maximum team size is 4. When submitting your project on devpost, make sure to include all team members.

How do I register?

To register, start off by clicking “Register” at the top of the hack united website. After filling out that form, go to Devpost and sign up there! Also, don’t forget to join their Discord.

What time zone is this based in?

We are based in EST, however you can compete in any time zone.

Do we have to submit a project to register?

Nope! Feel free to register just to browse our workshops and resources.
