IIT Jammu invites applications from pre-final year graduate/undergraduate students for Undergraduate Research Internship in Science and Engineering by IIT Jammu. The last date for application is April 23, 2023.
About IIT Jammu
The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu was inaugurated on 6th August 2016 and welcomed the first batch of students into the campus in Paloura, Jammu. In the initial phases, the establishment of IIT Jammu was done under the mentorship of IIT Delhi. In 2018, IIT Jammu shifted the primary operations to the Main Campus in Jagti, Nagrota. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has provided land for the establishment of a permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology in Jammu, which consists of 400 acres. Currently, Phase 1 A of the main campus, spread across 25 acres, is operational. Phase 1 B and 1 C are undergoing construction.
About the Research Internship
This program nurtures and promotes an undergraduate research culture at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jammu. It is designed to give students an opportunity to closely work with the IIT Jammu faculty members and gain valuable research experience. Eligibility Criteria
- Preference will be given to students who have good programming/technical skills and are willing to solve real-world challenges.
- Open to pre-final year graduate/undergraduate non-IIT Jammu students.

Application Procedure

- Step 1: Please read the detailed program first for eligibility and procedure and then visit Application Portal using the link provided and click the Register button to register yourself. Users will have to register first using a valid email address. This email address cannot be changed later, therefore, it is recommended to register using your personal email id.
- Step 2: Once registered, please activate your login and fill out the required information on the application portal.
- The application once submitted cannot be edited, therefore candidates are advised to review the information provided carefully before final submission.
- Students should select one primary project and one secondary project based on his/her research interest. The student and his/her supervisor may change the problem statement with mutual consent.
- Students are required to upload all the educational documents, a one-page CV, a Bonafide Certificate from the Head of Department (HoD)/ Head of the institution, a Declaration letter by the parents, and other related documents/certificates that will justify the potential of the student. The sample from the HoD/department and the parent’s authorization letter can be found on our website.
- Uploading of duplicate and/or wrongly attached documents/late and/or incomplete applications will not be processed.
Application Timeline
- The internship period is going to be a minimum of six weeks starting from May 22nd, 2023 till the end of July.
- The internship period can be extended up to eight weeks with the mutual consent of the student and his supervisor at IIT Jammu.
- The Application portal will open on April 12, 2023.
- The deadline for the online application submission is April 23, 2023, at 11:59 pm.
- The results for the RISE-UP will be announced on or before May 8, 2023.
- All applications received under a particular project will be shared with the concerned supervisor by April 24, 2023.
- The supervisor, after reviewing the applications, will select the intern by May 01, 2023. The list of selected interns will be published on the institute website on May 08, 2023.
NOTE: The internship is fully offline.
Financial aid
- The students will receive a weekly stipend of Rs. 2500 during the course of the internship. The stipend for faculty-funded projects, however, may vary.
- Hostel accommodation will be provided to all the summer interns, and students are required to pay the applicable hostel charges.
- The supervisors will receive a contingency budget of Rs 5000/month.
