Roles and Responsibilities
IBM Blue Studio is responsible for the sophistication and strategic evolution and expression of the IBM brand and sub-brands across every experience and encounter, internally and externally. We represent and support all IBM businesses horizontally and vertically. Our work crosses nearly every category of output: research and strategy, communications and content development, symbology and systems, digital and physical experiences, tools and training. Our goal is to maintain modernity, tangibility and understanding of the IBM brand in the world.
The Blue Studio design practice is seeking a talented and driven Design Intern who is eager to dive into a dynamic environment where creativity and strategic thinking thrive. The ideal candidate will be passionate about design, focusing strongly on modern typography and information design. You will gain hands-on experience across a diverse range of projects, including digital, print, social media, and multimedia.
- Assisting with the execution of design projects from initial concept to final delivery.
- Contributing to the production of various deliverables, including print, online, and multimedia assets.
- Supporting the creation of visual elements such as typography, illustrations, iconography, and photography.
- Learning and applying IBM’s brand strategies, vision, and design systems.
- Preparing presentation materials and design comps for stakeholder review.
- Collaborating with creative directors, senior designers to prioritize tasks and ensure high-quality design outcomes.
- Communicating design concepts and rationales clearly, both verbally and visually.
- Assisting in the quality control process to ensure design excellence and consistency.
Required Technical Skill Sets
- Designing experiences across media.
- Utilizing knowledge of grids, typography, graphic design, color, layout, iconography, imagery, and
- design patterns and systems to address ambiguous, complex problems and projects.
- Problem solving and idea generation, effectively visualizing and creating concepts into the end products.
- Investigating, innovating, and developing trends in creative with an emphasis on brand
- experience and design.
- Actively seeking feedback and review of work; accept and act upon creative/technical direction.
- Taking direction well and being nimble to extend designs across platforms.
- Distinguishing good design from bad, careless from well-conceived and crafted.
- Being passionate, confident, empathetic, positive and approachable.
- Attention-to-detail, strong organizational skills and time management.
- Collaboration with others–stakeholders, technical teams, partners and other designers.
Preferred
- Applications: Adobe Creative Suite (highly proficient), Figma, Sketch a plus, MS Office (.PPT), Github
- Research ability
- Web standards knowledge
- Animation and motion skills
- 3D skills a plus
