Applications are invited for the EEG Research Internship at Mind Lab IIT Delhi. Apply by April 15.
About Mind Lab
Mind Lab is an interdisciplinary research group that investigates the psychological, cognitive, and neural foundations of happiness and well-being. We combine behavioral experiments, computational modeling, and neuroimaging techniques like EEG to study how emotions, cognition, and social factors shape mental states. Our research integrates psychophysiology, cognitive science, and advanced analytics to advance the science of happiness.
About the Program
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented EEG Research Intern to assist in ongoing neuroscience studies. The intern will contribute to EEG data collection, preprocessing, and analysis, working closely with researchers to investigate neural correlates of cognition, perception, or behavior.
Duration
3 Months and Extendable on Performance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in EEG experimental setup, including electrode placement (10-20 system), impedance checks, and participant preparation.
- Conduct EEG data acquisition using BrainVision 32 channel system
- Perform signal preprocessing (e.g., filtering, artifact removal, ICA, epoch extraction) using tools like EEGLAB, FieldTrip, MNE-Python, or Brainstorm.
- Support statistical analysis (time-frequency, ERP, connectivity) and visualization of neural data.
- Assist in literature reviews, experimental design, and IRB protocol compliance.
- Maintain organized documentation of data and procedures.
Requirements
- Background in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, computer science, or related fields.
- Prior experience with EEG data collection and analysis.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python (MNE, NumPy, SciPy), or R for signal processing.
- Familiarity with EEG hardware/software (e.g., ActiChamp, OpenBCI, EGI).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team.
Preferred
- Knowledge of machine learning for EEG (e.g., decoding, classification).
- Experience with psychophysiological tools (e.g., Eye-tracking, fNIRS).
- Understanding of cognitive neuroscience theories.
Learning Outcomes
- Hands-on training in advanced EEG methodologies.
- Exposure to neurotechnology and brain-computer interface (BCI) research.
- Mentorship from experienced neuroscientists.
- Opportunity to contribute to publications/conferences (if applicable).
