About SVNIT
The Institute was established as Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology (SVRCET) Surat in 1961 as one of the Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) to impart technical education. The Institute had begun with offering Bachelor Degree Programmes in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
The Government of India declared the Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology (SVRCET) Surat to Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat with status of ‘Deemed University’ with effect from 4th December, 2002. With the enactment of National Institutes of Technology Act-2007, the Institute has been granted the status of ‘Institution of National Importance’ w.e.f. August 15, 2007.
About the Internship
SVNIT Summer Internship Programme (SSIP) is a popular in house programme intiated in 2018. The objective of the programme is to enhance awareness and interest in quality academic research among young Engineering and Science students.
To broaden its perspective; this year Institute has opened it for all (in house as well as students of different Institutes in India). It is expected that the students will pursue an innovative research and development project under the guidance of SVNIT Surat faculties.

Eligibility
- Any student pursuing B.E./B. Tech with a good academic record, who has appeared at least 5th semester examination.
- Any Integrated M.Sc./Integrated M.Tech/Dual degree student with a good academic record, who has appeared at least 5th semester examination.
- Applicants should be among the top 20% based on CGPA / % score in all the previous years in his/her discipline in the College/ Institution/University and to be certified by the Dean (Academic) / Head of the Institute/Principal at the time of the application (Submit through the attached Google Form).
- Students must submit a Project Write up (Maximum 500 words) and upload the single pdf file in Google Form.
- Passout students / Students who are in the final year of above mentioned degrees are not eligible to apply.
- The student should be free in the above mentioned period (May 19-July 18, 2025); otherwise he/ she should not apply. The request of late joining or early leaving will not be entertained.
- He/she should have all grade sheets till the previous semesters (Example, if he/she appears for 6th semester examination in April/May 2025, up to 5th semester result should be available at the time of online application). All uploaded mark sheets must be self certified by the candidate.
Amount of fellowship
Rs. 5,000/- per month.

How to Apply?
- Applications must be submitted through the Google Form / online only.
- Fill all the details must be correct and in order. Upload all relevant documents in Google Form.
- Offline applications, applications through emails shall not be entertained.

Accommodation & Facilities
- Accommodation and Food: Hostel accommodation is to be provided in SVNIT Hostel with payment basis. Mess / Canteen food charges to be borne by the interns.
- Benefits & Facilities: Laboratory, Library Facilities (without barrowing) and internet facilities. Medical facility (consultation with doctor at Institute dispensary).
Selection Procedure
- The selection procedure consists of a preliminary screening of applications followed by an interview (online mode) department/mentor faculty wise at the option of the concerned Department.
- Selection may depend upon consistently brilliant academic performance, Project write up, work carried out by the student besides his regular academic work, and performance in the interview.
- The decision of the SVNIT Surat authorities shall be final.
- No correspondence shall be entertained in this matter.
