Job Description

The Role: Master and Reference Data Intern.

Master Data & Reference Data Operations team plays a pivotal role in the S&P Global Commodity Insight’s strategic transformation from a traditional data organization into a next-generation data intelligence organization.
Entity resolution and consistency of master and reference data are imperative for interoperability across the organization. Interoperability is vital to extending our market leadership by building next-generation market data, insights, and analytics products powered by our world-class datasets.

As a Data Governance Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with industry-leading data management tools and processes while contributing to our mission of delivering high-quality data to our customers.

Responsibilities

Support the Data Governance team in maintaining accurate and complete master and reference data for the Oil and Gas domain.
Assist with developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures, and support compliance with regulatory requirements.
Work with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data management strategies align with business objectives.
Participate in data quality analysis and reporting activities and help identify and resolve data quality issues.
Document workflow of various processes under Master Data and Reference Data.
Conduct thorough research and analysis, gather associated information and data, and investigate relationships between data objects to support requirements.
Actively audit the data, seek improvements to data quality, and pursue automation opportunities.
Participate in the development of master data management strategies (for example: match and merge rules) and related tooling operations.
Engage with stakeholders and data stewards through knowledge sharing and lessons learned, training, and education.
Investigate industry and trends within master data, reference data, and the broader data management discipline.

Desired Skill Sets and Experience

Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or Master’s program in a related field, such as Petroleum Engineering, Geology, or Data Science.
Knowledge of master and reference data concepts and best practices.
The agile and analytical mindset to find process efficiencies and improvement ideas along with implementation & change management.
Basic knowledge of Excel and SQL.
Soft skills like communication, and stakeholder relationships.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Self-motivated, able to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
