About the Position
The Creative Interfaces Lab at HCD, IIITD invites applications for a fully-funded PhD position focused on exploring the exciting and emerging field of Extended Reality (XR), encompassing Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). The project will entail research into advanced modelling and simulations, harnessing the power of Generative AI such as Large Language Models (LLMs).
The lab specializes in the design, development, and evaluation of novel interfaces and interactions. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to investigate new forms of generative AIpowered simulations and modelling within XR, addressing fundamental challenges, and paving the way for immersive, intuitive, and highly responsive experiences.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational background: A master’s degree in Computer Science, HCI, AI, or related fields.
- Technical skills: Strong knowledge in VR/AR/MR technologies and experience in developing XR applications using platforms such as Unity or Unreal Engine. Prior experience with AI technologies, especially Generative AI and Large Language Models, is highly desirable. Knowledge in Python, C++, or other relevant programming languages is required.
- Analytical skills: Proficiency in the design, execution, and analysis of user studies, including qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Design skills: Experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, or related areas is beneficial.
- Soft skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
