Job Description

At Siemens Gamesa we make real what matters, join our global team. As a Grid Study Engineer, you will be performing Grid Studies aiming to evaluate compliance with Wind Farm developer’s requirements for offshore projects.

Responsibilities

You will provide simulations and reports to SGRE’s Grid Engineering Managers, more specifically, your assignments will cover:

  • Grid Code and Developer-requirement analysis.
  • Modeling of Offshore Wind Farms; these models will be used to perform steady state, dynamic, transient and frequency domain simulations.
  • Perform Steady-state simulations to evaluate compliance with requirements related to Short Circuits, PQ capability, Voltage limits, overloading of equipment, and other simulations in the steady-state domain.
  • Perform Dynamic simulations (RMS) to evaluate compliance with requirements such as FRT, voltage stability, frequency stability, and other simulations in the dynamic domain.
  • Perform Transient simulations (EMT) to evaluate compliance with requirements such as Inrush current, fast transients, voltage stability, frequency stability, and other simulations in the transient domain.
  • Perform Transient simulations (EMT) to evaluate compliance with requirements such as Inrush current, fast transients, voltage stability, frequency stability, and other simulations in the transient domain.
  • Create scripts to automate the above-described simulations.
  • Write reports where the input data, results and conclusions of the above simulations will be clearly described.
  • Support SGRE Park Control Lead Engineers on Field Test-related activities.
  • Support SGRE Grid Engineer Managers to communicate and defend the results and conclusions written in the studies reports.
  • Support SGRE Grid Engineer Managers to prepare the study scope of work; which will include the planning of Input data, timeline, description of study execution and how the results will be presented.
  • Technical support to project and sales teams.

Qualifications

You have a Master’s degree in electrical power engineering preferably combined with experience in performing Design and/or Grid compliance studies.

You have experience performing several types of electrical studies like:

  • Harmonic Studies
  • Load Flow Analysis
  • Dynamic Stability
  • Frequency domain analysis
  • Transient Studies

You have experience using the following simulation tools:

  • Matlab/Simulink,
  • PSS/E,
  • DIgSILENT Power Factory,
  • PSCAD/EMTDC or others are similar.

You are self-driven, extrovert, analytical and able to create and maintain an overview of complex tasks. At the same time, you are good at networking,

Excellent communication skills in English.

You are motivated by working in a strong technical and customer-oriented environment.
