About IIT Kottayam

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam (IIIT Kottayam) was established in the year 2015 as one among the IIITs established under the administrative control of the Government of India and later declared as an “Institution of National Importance” by an Act of Parliament enacted in 2017.

The initial cost for the infrastructure development was shared in the ratio of 50:35:15 among the Central Government, State Government and the industry partners namely M/s CIAL Cochin, and M/s Rolta Foundation Mumbai. The institute is located on a picturesque lush green 53-acre campus in Pala, Kottayam, Kerala.

About Internship

IIIT Kottayam is excited to introduce the Institute Internship Programme 2025 (Hybrid mode) (iINT-’25) at IIIT Kottayam! This program is designed to inspire and engage both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the exciting world of research and innovation.

Over the course of four to eight weeks, you will have the chance to work closely with your mentor. You can join us in person at the IIIT Kottayam campus for two weeks, or feel free to work online from wherever you feel most comfortable! If you are passionate about exploring new ideas, we encourage you to dive into interdisciplinary research. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with various research groups, which will really boost your research experience.

Eligibility

Summer Internship 2025 is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students in Engineering, Computer Applications, and Mathematics.

Internship Fee

• Programme Fee: ₹5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only)..
• Payment is to be done ONLINE only.
• Fee once paid will not be refunded.

Duration

Starting from May 1 2025 for 4 – 8 weeks.

Qualification

This Internship calls for UG/PG students (Ongoing or Completed) who have requisite knowledge in the mentioned areas of work.

Documents required before registration

• Curriculum Vitae/Resume of the student.
• Consent from the Mentor of IIIT Kottayam – Follow the procedure given below to obtain the Consent Form.Step 1: Students shall select a mentor from among the faculties working in the same area of interest and contact them through e-mail given in the Faculty Profile

• Internship Fee Payment Receipt – after payment via SBI Fee Collect.
• Bonafide Certificate and NoC from the Institute where the student has undergone/is undergoing the current course, in the prescribed format. Click here.

1. Who is eligible to apply for the Internship Program?
   Ans: All undergraduate and postgraduate students currently enrolled in or completing courses in Engineering, Computer Applications, and Mathematics are eligible to apply.
2. Can students from Arts or Science backgrounds apply?
   Ans: Yes, students from Arts or Science backgrounds may apply as long as they are interested in interdisciplinary research, and have sufficient pre-requisite knowledge for the selected area.
3. How do I find a mentor from IIIT Kottayam?
   Ans: To find a mentor, first identify your area of research interest. Then, choose faculty members who work in that area by consulting the faculty profile list on the Institute’s website. You can contact the faculty via the email address or phone number provided.
4. Can I contact more than one faculty mentor?
   Ans: Yes, you may contact multiple faculty members. However, please inform the other faculty members once you receive consent from one of them.
5. Should I get both the Bonafide Certificate and the NoC from my college/university?
   Ans: Yes, if you are currently enrolled in a course, it is mandatory to submit both the Bonafide Certificate and the NoC in the prescribed format. If you are no longer a student, you should submit the Bonafide Certificate from the college/university you attended.
6. Is there a shortlisting process after the registration is completed?
   Ans: No, there is no shortlisting after the registration is completed. Once you have paid the registration fee and uploaded the mandatory documents, including the fee receipt and the consent form signed by your mentor, your registration process will be complete. You will receive an onboarding email before the official start of the internship.
7. Is it mandatory to submit the Joining Report?
   Ans: Yes, along with the onboarding email, the intern will receive a Joining Report. The intern should discuss the start date of the internship with their mentor. The Joining Report should be signed by the mentor and emailed to academics2@iiitkottayam.ac.in.
8. What is the procedure for availing an offline internship?
   Ans: Please discuss your preferred start date for the offline internship with your mentor. Before you arrive at the institute, confirm the availability of the hostel facility with the internship team through your mentor. Make sure to communicate your arrival date to internship@iiitkottayam.ac.in.
9. Is it mandatory to avail hostel facility during the offline internship?
   Ans: No, provided the intern is staying in the close vicinity of the Institute.
