Applications are invited for the Happiness Studies Research Internship at Mind Lab IIT Delhi. Apply by April 15.

About Mind Lab

Mind Lab is an interdisciplinary research group that investigates the psychological, cognitive, and neural foundations of happiness and well-being. We combine behavioral experiments, computational modeling, and neuroimaging techniques like EEG to study how emotions, cognition, and social factors shape mental states. Our research integrates psychophysiology, cognitive science, and advanced analytics to advance the science of happiness.

About the Program

We are seeking a Research Intern with a background in psychology or cognitive science to assist in designing and conducting experiments on happiness and well-being. The intern will contribute to experimental design, stimulus presentation (e.g., E-Prime, PsychoPy), data collection, and analysis in behavioral and cognitive studies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and program cognitive experiments using E-Prime, PsychoPy, jsPsych, or OpenSesame to study happiness-related behaviors (e.g., attention bias, memory, decision-making).
  • Assist in participant recruitment, screening, and behavioral data collection (in-lab or online).
  • Conduct literature reviews on happiness, positive psychology, and cognitive-emotional interactions.
  • Support data preprocessing and statistical analysis (using R, Python, or SPSS).
  • Help develop surveys, questionnaires, and experimental paradigms.
  • Maintain organized records of experimental protocols and data.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s/Master’s student (or recent graduate) in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or related fields.
    • Experience with experimental design software (E-Prime, PsychoPy, jsPsych, or similar).
    • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis (ANOVA, regression, mixed-effects models).
    • Familiarity with behavioral research methods (e.g., reaction time tasks, emotion induction paradigms).
    • Strong interest in happiness studies, positive psychology, or affective science.
    • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

    Preferred

    • Experience with online experiment platforms (e.g., Gorilla, Pavlovia).
    • Knowledge of psychophysiological measures (e.g., EEG, eye-tracking, GSR).
    • Programming skills (Python/R for data analysis).
    • Prior research experience in emotion, well-being, or social cognition.

    Benefits

    • Hands-on training in cognitive experiment design and behavioral research.
    • Exposure to cutting-edge topics in happiness and well-being science.
    • Mentorship from interdisciplinary researchers.
    • Opportunity to contribute to publications/conference presentations (if applicable).

    Deadline

    April 15 2025.
