About Generation Google Scholarship 2023

Generation Google Scholarship: for women in computer science was established to help students pursuing computer science degrees excel in technology and become leaders in the field.

  • Selected students will receive USD 2,500 for the 2023-2024 academic year.
  • The Generation Google Scholarship 2023 is for women in computer science and will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrated leadership, and academic performance.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time second or third-year undergraduate student at an accredited university for the 2022-2023 academic year in one of the eligible Asia Pacific countries (see ‘Eligible Asia Pacific countries’).
  • Intend to continue pursuing a full-time bachelor’s program at an accredited university for the 2023-2024 academic year in one of the eligible Asia Pacific countries (see ‘Eligible Asia Pacific countries’).
  • Be studying computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field
  • Demonstrate a strong academic record.
  • Exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for improving the representation of underrepresented groups in computer science and technology.
  • Participate in Google’s Online Challenge which will assess for coding skills.

  • Deadline to apply: 2:59 PM SGT on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, or
  • when 3,000 eligible application responses are received

How to Apply?

You will be asked to complete an online application which includes:

  • General background information (e.g. contact information and details about your current and intended universities)
  • Resume/CV
  • Academic transcripts from your current institution (and prior, if applicable)
  • Responses to short answer essay questions (questions will be available when the application launches)
  • Google Online Challenge (invitation to the challenge will be sent 5-7 working days post application deadline)
  • Note: Google Online Challenge solely serves as an additional data point when reviewing your application holistically.

    • Yes, you can update your application at any time up until the deadline.
  3. Will I receive a confirmation email that my application was submitted?
    • No. You can log into the application tool at any time to check the status of your application. If it says “Submitted” in the left column, we have received your application.
  4. I just started a new degree so I don’t have a GPA or transcripts yet. What should I enter in my application?
    • Please enter the GPA and transcripts of your most recently completed degree/diploma.
  5. What should I include in my resume?
    • If applicable, please include leadership positions, extracurricular activities, and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts on your resume.
    • Some examples include clubs and organizations, national society chapters, programming competitions & hackathons, teaching assistantships, research opportunities, developmental programs, distinguished academic awards, speaking engagements, community service/volunteer work, positions in DEI-focused organizations, etc.
