About IIT Delhi
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the 23 IITs created to be Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. Established as the College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute has later declared an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”.

Exemptions, Relaxations and Clarifications
- For SC/ST/PwD category students, a minimum performance in the qualifying degree is
relaxed from 60% to 55% (CGPA 6.00 to 5.50). - Qualifying degree performance is computed by aggregating performance over all the
semesters/years of the qualifying degree). - The offer of admission to M.Tech. Programme (Full-time) will have to be accepted on the
Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Detailed instructions in this regard will be
provided on the IIT Delhi website. - Candidates with AMIE or Grad. IETE qualifications may also be considered for admission to
the M. Tech. Programmes; however, if provisionally selected for admission based on their
AMIE/Grad IETE performance. - They would be required to complete 24 valid undergraduate credits prescribed by the concerned DRC/CRC/SRC/PEC and clear the GATE examination before being actually admitted to the M.Tech. Programmes.
- For admission to all the above programmes, candidates with B.Tech. from IITs, graduating with a CGPA of 8.00 or above, are exempted from qualifying for GATE/CEED. If shortlisted, they will be interviewed through videoconferencing.
- For admission to M.S.(R), the requirement of qualification in the GATE/National Exam is waived.
- Currently registered students in Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) having CGPA of 8.00 or above (on a 10-point scale) at the end of 6th semester or later, in B.Tech./B.E./Integrated M.Tech./Integrated M.Sc. Programmes (or any other programme of minimum four-year duration, admission to which is on the basis of JEE),
- The requirement of the GATE/National Exam is waived for consideration of admission to the M.S. (R) programme at IIT Delhi.
- Moreover, such students must have obtained a CGPA of 8.00 or above at the time of graduation (and before they formally register for the M.S.(R) programme).
- Graduates of CFTIs (in the programmes marked under (i)) with a final graduation
- CGPA of more than 8.00 (80% aggregate marks, if marks are the primary mode of evaluation);
- M.A. or M.Sc. graduates from IITs with a CGPA of 8.000 or above.
- However, if a candidate admitted to M.S.(R) programme following the above criterion wanted to convert to M.Tech. the programme, he/she should also meet the shortlisting criteria of the M.Tech. the programme, in addition to the conversion criteria (including requirement, if any, of a valid examination in GATE / National Examination)
