Panjab University is located in Sector 14 and Sector 25 of Chandigarh, spreading across an area of almost 550 acres. The layout of two campuses of the University has been conceived to meet the academic, administrative, sports/recreational, residential and other requirements of a growing University.
To make it self-contained, infrastructural facilities like its own Shopping Centre, Health Centre, Bank, Post office, Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, Sports Grounds, Botanical Gardens, well maintained parks, Open Air Theatre, Guest Houses, Faculty House, Seminar Complexes, Alumni House, Community Centre and a school, have been provided. Announcement for PhD Admissions under “Visvesvaraya PhD scheme for Electronics & IT- Phase II” Sponsored by DIC, MeitY, Govt. of India. Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India has granted scholarships under the scheme titled “Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics & IT- Phase II”.
Applications are invited for admission to PhD programme in Information Technology/ Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) – (01) for Academic Year 2024-25. Candidates are required to contact and take consent of the respective faculty as per their area of research.
Eligibility
Qualification and admission procedure will be the same as that of regular PhD admissions as per Panjab University Rules.

Financial Support
Financial Support for Full-time PhD candidates:
- Fellowship: Rs. 38,750/- per month in 1st & 2nd year and @Rs. 43,750/- per month in 3rd, 4th and 5th years of PhD. (support till PhD completion or 5 years whichever is earlier).
- Reimbursement of Rent (RoR): This component is linked with the fellowship of PhD Candidate .The rate of RoR will be provided as per norms. The classification of the cities HRA. HRA is available to candidates who do not reside in the campus.
- Annual contingency will also be provided.
