About DA-IICT
DA-IICT is spread over 50 acres of land in Gandhinagar, the Capital City of Gujarat. The DA-IICT campus is caringly planned and designed as an environmentally conscious campus in the country. The architecture of DA-IICT is functional, but what surrounds it is a fascinating garden. The entire design is oriented towards preserving the environment. About DA-IICT PhD Program
DA-IICT invites applications from bright scholars interested in pursuing research in ICT and other allied domains. The doctoral program at DA-IICT is an intense program geared towards preparing students for careers both in academia and industry. Research at DA-IICT is conducted in ICT & allied disciplines, Mathematical & Computational Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences. Candidates interested in any of these disciplines, or in interdisciplinary areas, are encouraged to apply.
The PhD program comprises both course and research work. The amount of coursework one has to undergo depends on the candidates’ past background and the research one is engaged in. The research work to be undertaken for PhD must include an original contribution to the knowledge reserve culminating in a thesis to be submitted for the doctoral degree. Eligibility Criteria
M.Tech./M.E./M.C.A./M.Sc./M.Phil./B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent degree in ICT/CS/EC/IT/EE/IN/Mathematics/ Statistics/Physics/Bioinformatics/Electronics or other appropriate disciplines with 60% marks or its equivalent in the qualifying degree as per the norms set by the degree awarding Institute/University.
Selection Criteria
For ICT, Allied Domains, Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Computational Science)
- Mode 1: Direct Interview for candidates with valid GATE results. Shortlisting for interviews will be based on the GATE score/rank.
- The admissions committee would refer the applications received to a panel of experts who can judge the relative merits of each application and accordingly decide the relevant GATE threshold.
- The applicant is expected to fulfil the GATE score/rank threshold as decided by the committee/panel of experts.
- Mode 2: This will comprise of proctored online entrance test followed by a personal/online interview.
Shortlisting will be on the basis of a proctored online entrance test and the selection will be based on a personal/online interview.- The interview will happen via video conferencing mode either through Skype or Google Hangout/Meet.
DA-IICT fellowship
- The fellowship is Rs. 28,000/- per month till the end of the semester when the candidate clears the comprehensive examination.
- After passing the comprehensive examination, for the first two years, the stipend would be Rs. 31,000 per month. For the next two years, the stipend will be revised to Rs. 35,000/- per month
- Candidates with either M. Phil, valid NET-JRF, GATE score of 500 or above or top rank in the University/Institute in their qualifying degree would be eligible for a DAIICT fellowship of Rs. 35,000 per month after passing the comprehensive examination.
- PhD students can avail one-time international travel grant maximum of up to 1,50,000 rupees depending upon the recommendation of the scrutiny committee and the type of conference they will attend.
TCS Research Fellowship
- The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has recognized DA-IICT as one of the Institutions to administer the TCS Research Scholar Program. This prestigious program provides attractive doctoral fellowships to full-time students pursuing PhD programs in selected areas.
- Fellowship: Rs. 41,000/- per month for the first two years and Rs. 45,000/- per month for the next two years.
Other Incentives
- A contingency of Rs.1,00,000/- is available in the first year for use during the tenure of studies.
- Other Fellowships: Candidates who have been selected for the DST Inspire/PM Scholarship/ Visweshvaraya PhD scheme and other appropriate fellowships and admitted to the program can avail of their fellowship.
