About IIT Gandhinagar
Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar is a public technical university in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. The government of India has declared it an Institute of National Importance. Established in 2008, the IIT Gandhinagar campus is spread over 400 acres along the river Sabarmati.
About Programme
IIT Gandhinagar invites applications for visiting students in its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. A student registered for a degree in a recognized institute or university in India or abroad who that institute or university officially sponsors to complete part of his/her academic requirements at IITGN can apply for admission to IITGN as a visiting student. Such a student may conduct research, take courses for credit or otherwise, or use other academic facilities. However, any credits earned by a visiting student cannot be applied for any degree programme at IITGN at any time.
Program Requirements
The program is open to undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate students. Students enrolled in the visiting student program will receive grade sheets for their work at IITGN.
Qualifications
Students must have completed at least one year of college education and submit an approval letter from their institution if they are currently enrolled. Students should also have English language proficiency to participate in the program, as all classes at IITGN are taught in English.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission
Applicants should be officially part of a recognized institute or university in India or abroad.
He/she should be officially sponsored by that Institute/University to complete part of his/her academic requirements at IITGN.
His/her academic record should be such that there is a reasonable likelihood of his/her benefitting from the study period at IIT Gandhinagar.
Norms for Visiting Students Programme
IIT Gandhinagar encourages interdisciplinarity, and students are free to select courses from various disciplines
- Undergraduate
- A student is required to register for a minimum of 3-4 courses per semester. The total courses should not exceed 6 courses per semester.
- Post Graduate (PG)
- A student must register for at least 3 courses per semester, and the total number of courses should not exceed 5.
An applicant should have completed one of the following degree.
- Bachelor’s in engineering
- Master’s in sciences
- Master’s in humanities and social sciences
His/her academic record should be such that there is a good likelihood of his/her benefitting from the study period at IIT Gandhinagar.
