About the Institution of Engineering and Technology

The Institution of Engineering and Technology is a multidisciplinary professional engineering institution. The IET was formed in 2006 from two separate institutions: the Institution of Electrical Engineers, dating back to 1871, and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers dating back to 1884.

About IET India Scholarship Award 2023

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (The IET) is one of the world’s largest professional societies for engineers, headquartered in the UK. In India, the IET works closely with industry, academia, and government towards its global mission, and conducts wide-ranging activities that focus on areas such as Future technologies. Future of Mobility and Transport, as well as the Future of Work. Shri Ratan Tata, Former Chairman of Tata Sons, N R Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus, Infosys, and T V Ramachandran, President, of Broadband India Forum (Ex-Resident Director, Vodafone) are Honorary Fellows of the IET.

This year, the awards are open to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year undergraduate engineering students. Students from all AICTE-approved undergraduate engineering programs can apply to win our scholarships this year. The IET India Scholarship Award is advised and led by a highly empowered and respected advisory board, comprising academicians and corporate professionals of national repute who help build a robust framework for the IET India Scholarship Awards.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Scholarship Award, applicants must be students of first, second, third, or fourth-year full-time B.Tech programs in India.

Any first, second, third-year, and fourth-year full-time regular UG Engineering student from an AICTE/UGC-approved institution. (Open to students across all engineering branches as recognized by the AICTE/UGC.)
All regular credit courses must have been cleared in a single attempt by the applicant.
UG marks should be at least 60% in aggregate for the semesters cleared so far or corresponding to a CGPA of at least 6.0 on a 10-point scale
There is no age limit for the applicant.
Application is open to IET members, as well as non-members.
Students from AICTE/UGC-approved Institutions and national institutes are eligible to apply for scholarships.

Scholarship Evaluation Criteria

Step 1: Students are evaluated and shortlisted based on a number of criteria, including Academic Performance and participation in extracurricular activities
Step 2: A rigorous online test on their technical knowledge of core engineering subjects
Step 3: In the Regional Rounds, students that clear the cut-off score are then invited to innovate and present their unique technological solution to a pertinent societal challenge that impacts their region
Step 4: Regional winners finally battle it out in the National Finals to win the title of National Winner of the Year. Winners of the IET India Scholarship Awards will be engaged throughout the year via a series of activities for sharing knowledge, encouraging new ideas, and innovative collaboration with the next generation of engineers and technologists.
