About BARC

The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is India’s premier nuclear research facility, headquartered in Trombay, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was founded by Homi Jehangir Bhabha as the Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay in January 1954 as a multidisciplinary research program essential for India’s nuclear program.

Training Scheme

Category-I: Stipendiary Trainee

Online applications are invited for Category-I Stipendiary Trainee in the following disciplines with educational/technical qualifications from a recognized University / Board of Technical Education of Central or State Government. The diploma should be 3 years after SSC or 2 years after HSC / ITI / B.Sc. Candidates undergoing/completed M.Sc. Integrated course and applying for Post Code No.TR-01 to TR-06 shall produce a B.Sc. degree Certificate.

  • Note: Low Vision (LV): (i) visual acuity not exceeding 6/18 or less than 20/60 up to 3/60 or up to 10/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible corrections.
    • (ii) limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of fewer than 40 degrees up to 10 degrees.
  • Hard of Hearing (HH): A person having 60 decibels to 70 decibels hearing loss in speech frequencies loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies.
  • Locomotor Disability (LD-OL/OA): Physical deformity should not be less than 40 percent. Dwarfism(Dw): An adult with a height of 4 feet 10 inches(147 cm) or less.

Category-II: Stipendiary Trainee

Online applications are invited for Category-II Stipendiary Trainee in the following trades with Educational / Technical Qualifications from a recognized Board of Technical Education of the Central or State Government.

  • Trade Certificate through (i) National Trade Certificate (NTC) (ITI pass out) of two-year duration.
  • (ii) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) of Two years duration under the Apprenticeship Training Scheme.
  • (iii) NTC (ITI pass out) of one-year duration plus one-year work experience after the completion of the course.
  • (iv) NTC (ITI pass out) of one-year duration plus NAC of minimum one-year duration under Apprenticeship Training Scheme.

Physical Standards (Applicable to Training Scheme)

  • Minimum Height: 160 cm and Minimum weight: 45.5 kg (Relaxable if the candidate is otherwise medically fit).

Selection Method

Category-I Stipendiary Trainee

  • The Computer Based Screening Test of one-hour duration will be conducted on an India basis and will comprise 40 multi-choice questions (choice of 4 options). ‘3’ marks will be awarded for each correct answer and ‘1’ mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • The syllabus for the said examination will be based on subjects at Diploma / B.Sc. level as the case may be. Those candidates qualifying in the Screening Test shall be shortlisted for interview.
  • The venue of the interview will be intimated later. Final selection will be on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the interview and no weightage will be given for marks scored in the Screening Test. The decision of this Centre in this regard will be final.

Category-II Stipendiary Trainee

The Selection Process consists of Tests in three stages:

  • Stage 1 – Preliminary Test.
  • Stage 2 – Advanced Test Stage.
  • 3 – Skill Test.

How to Apply?

  • Candidates are required to apply online through the official website.
    • No other means/ mode of application will be accepted.
  • Candidates who have not acquired the mandatory/requisite educational qualification as of the closing date for receipt of online application need not apply.
    • No correspondence or clarification will be entertained on this matter.
  • Candidates should read the instructions in the advertisement and online application form carefully before making any entry or selecting any option.
    • Only one application should be submitted for one post.
    • Candidates should submit a separate application for each post if they intend to apply for more than one post.
    • Before submitting the online application, candidates are required to register themselves by clicking on the one-time registration tab.
  • Before filling application form, candidates should keep ready the necessary documents/certificates required.
    • The candidate is required to fill up personal details and details of the post applied for etc. and upload a recently taken front-facing passport-size photograph with Proper Plain Background.
  • Candidates are required to have a valid email ID and mobile number which should be kept active throughout the currency of this recruitment.
    • Candidates are required to download the Admit Card from the website of BARC. No correspondence will be sent through post/courier.
  • Instruction for uploading Photo and Signature: Photo: Image should be of size 165 x 125 pixels in jpg/jpeg format and should not exceed 50 KB;
    • Signature: The image should be of size 80 x 125 pixels in jpg/jpeg format and should not exceed 20 KB
  • The candidate must ensure that their photo and signature are clearly visible in the preview at the time of filling out the application in online mode.
    • If the photo/signature displayed is small or not visible in the preview on the website, that means the photo/signature is not as per the required format, the application will be rejected.
    • Therefore candidates must ensure that their photo and signature are clearly visible.

  • Before clicking the submit button, the candidate is advised to check all the details filled in are correct.
    • Candidate may also ensure that name, date of birth, etc. are entered correctly in the application form as per Secondary School Certificate (SSC).
    • Any incorrect information may disqualify the candidature.
    • After the final submission of the application, no request for change/correction in any of the information in the application form shall be entertained under any circumstances.
  • After submitting the online application form candidates are required to take a print / save a copy of the online application form and preserve it till the document verification/all the selection process completes.
  • Candidates are advised to submit the online application much before the closing date and not to wait till the last date to avoid the possibility of disconnection/ inability or failure to login to the website on account of heavy load on the website during the closing days.

Application Fees

The mode of payment for the Application Fee is Online.

  • The fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances and cannot be adjusted for any other subsequent recruitment.
  • Application fees should be paid on or before the last date of receipt of online applications.
