Government of India to pursue design and manufacturing-oriented engineering education and research.
The Institute offers B.Tech., M.Tech., M.Des. and PhD programmes in core and applied areas of Engineering, Interdisciplinary Product Design, Sciences and Humanities.
About Vigyan VRITIKA
VRITIKA is the call for initiation and practice in science through a Training and Skill Internship. This
program aims to provide opportunities to promising PG students from universities and
colleges to get exposure and hands-on research skill development experience. These internships will
primarily be facilitated by organizations/ institutions/ laboratories of national importance.
Internship Description
- Distributed fibre optic sensing is a new paradigm in the area of optical sensing, particularly for long-range sensing applications like perimeter monitoring, oil and pipeline leak monitoring, earthquake detection etc.
- These sensors generate enormous volumes of data and it becomes imperative to use AI-based data analysis for real-time applications.
- During this internship, participants will be exposed to the fundamental principles of various distributed fibre optic sensor configurations.
- This internship is intended to train the participants in using the appropriate machine learning or deep learning techniques on real-time datasets for event detection and classification.
- The internship is interdisciplinary in nature, dealing with optics and photonics, and AI-based techniques including machine learning and deep learning.

- Duration: May 22, 2023, to July 20, 2023
- Place of internship: Fiber Optic Sensing Laboratory, IIITDM Kancheepuram
- Number of internships: 05
- Reporting Date for Selected Candidates: May 22, 2023
- The support amount of Rs. 30000 per intern for the whole internship period shall be given for meeting daily necessary expenses such as stationery, consumables, accommodation, food etc., and will not contain any stipend.
- The interns will be eligible for TA reimbursement for their journey to the host institute from their hometown/home institute, both ways, as per GOI norms.
- The certificate will be provided to the interns after the successful completion of the internship tenure.

- Regular PG level (M.Tech./M.S./M..E./M.Sc.) students, PhD scholars pursuing their degrees from Universities /Institutions within India.
- Students are interested to pursue research in the field of Optics & Photonics.
- Motivated students with a willingness to explore new concepts.
