Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the Tata Scholarship at Cornell University for the spring/fall intake 2022-23.
About the Tata Scholarship
The Tata Scholarship Fund will support approximately 20 scholars at any given time and will ensure that the very best Indian students have access to Cornell, regardless of their financial circumstances.
The scholarship will be awarded annually; recipients will receive the scholarship for the duration of their undergraduate studies at Cornell.
Eligibility
- Be a citizen of India and have attended secondary school in India.
- Be offered admission to Cornell as an undergraduate student.
- Be eligible for need-based financial aid.
Stream of Education
Preference will be given to qualified students accepted to the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning; the College of Engineering; the Applied Economics and Management major in the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business; and majors across colleges in the biological sciences, physical sciences, and other “hard” sciences, as well as the social sciences.
Amount of Scholarship
As long as you have financial need, Tata Scholarship shall fund for the number of semesters required for a student to complete an undergraduate degree.
With the exception of the five-year program in architecture, which requires ten semesters of full-time enrollment, they will provide up to eight semesters of funding.
Funding for additional semesters due to double majors or dual degrees is not available.
How to Apply?
- All undergraduate applicants must apply for financial aid by completing the financial aid application process for international students.
To apply for international financial aid the following documentation is required:
- Complete the College Scholarship Service (CSS) PROFILE (Cornell’s CSS code is 2098).
- Additional information may be requested by the Office of Financial Aid.
- Applicants who are unable to submit the online CSS Profile should contact us via e-mail at intl-finaid@cornell.edu well in advance and prior to the stated application deadlines
- CSS Profile fee waiver requests must be sent to intl-finaid@cornell.edu by the stated application deadline

- Early Decision Financial aid application materials due for international students: 1 November 2022
- Regular Decision Financial aid application materials due for international students: 2 January 2023
- Fall Transfer Financial aid application materials due for international students: 15 March 2023
Other Requirements
English Language Proficiency (ELP)
If English is not your native language or if you have not attended high school in a country where English is an official language for the four years prior to your planned enrollment at Cornell, you may be asked to submit results from one of the following English language proficiency examinations listed below.
The submissions and examinations that meet this requirement include, but are not limited to, the following:

Minimum score requirements for admissions consideration and to be most competitive in our review process:
- 100 and above on the TOEFL iBT and TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition
- 5.5 and above on the iTEP
- 120 and above on the Duolingo English Test
- 7.5 and above on the IELTS Academic
- 70 and above on the PTE Academic
- 191 and above on the Cambridge English Scale
