About the Fellowship

The Programme started in 2012 and aims to promote capacity building and research activities in UNESCO’s Member States in the field of science and engineering. Beneficiaries of these fellowships are given the opportunity to undertake an individual research program in the field of Science, Technology, and Engineering at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow for six (6) months duration starting on 1st October. UNESCO/Poland Co-sponsored Fellowships in Engineering 2023 is an opportunity offered by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree holders. This fellowship aims to promote human resource capacities in developing countries. The selected candidates will receive up to 2,200 PLN and other benefits.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • hold a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree.

Benefits by Polish Authorities

  • A monthly allowance of 1,500 PLN for B.Sc. degree students and 2,200 PLN for M.Sc. degree students.
  • A one-time special allowance of 1,500 PLN for B.Sc. degree students or 2,200 PLN for M.Sc. degree holders will be paid upon arrival in Poland.
  • Air travel ticket (the most direct and economical route) to and from Krakow, Poland.
  • Health insurance of up to US$ 50,000 in accordance with EU requirements for a Schengen visa for fellowship beneficiaries who are declared medically fit.
  • One-time special pocket allowance amounting to 120 (one hundred and twenty) US dollars.

Facilities by UNESCO

  • International travel expenses: (by the most direct, economical route) from the beneficiary’s country to and from Poland will be covered by UNESCO under its Regular Programme Budget.
  • Health insurance for fellowship beneficiaries who are declared medically fit: UNESCO fellowship holders may be covered by a health insurance policy, taken out by the Organization for the duration of the fellowship. The costs of this health insurance is subscribed to and covered by UNESCO on behalf of awarded fellows.

Required Documents

  • UNESCO fellowships application forms.
  • Two photographs are attached to the applications (4×6 cm).
  • Certified copies of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree/Ph.D. obtained.
  • UNESCO Certificate of Language.
  • Two letters of recommendation from someone related to the candidate’s work.
