Profile Overview: Data Intern

  • About the Team:
    • At Aspire, Finance plays a strategic role in driving our business forward. Our Finance team consists of a wide range of crucial functions across 4 verticals:
      • Traditional Finance with Accounting, Tax, Reporting,
      • Treasury, which is a core function for a Fintech,
      • Data including Business Intelligence, Data Analytics and Data Engineering and
      • Strategy & Planning, which covers strategic road map, long term planning, fundraising and FP&A.
    • Our Finance team engages in frequent strategic data analysis, research, and modeling to provide the best financial insights for critical business decisions, helping Aspire navigate the competitive landscape and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
    • The team also plays a key part as the first user of our Aspire software, pioneer in Finance transformation, reengineering our internal process to stay agile while maintaining the internal control in a hyper fast growing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the team in managing and optimizing data infrastructure on AWS, including the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines using Python.
  • Assist in integrating various data sources with tools like Airbyte and managing workflows using Apache Airflow.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and stakeholders to ensure data quality, reliability, and trustworthiness.
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and resolving data pipeline issues, contributing to coding standards and best practices.
  • Document data engineering processes, workflows, and perform manual and automated data quality checks.
  • Actively contribute to the observability, testability, and optimization of data pipelines.
  • Engage in cross-departmental projects to deliver data solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, including weekly updates, brainstorming sessions, and daily stand-up.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Basic proficiency in Python, object-oriented programming, and SQL with a solid understanding of relational databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working proficiency in verbal and written English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data extraction, ingestion, transformation, and good coding practices, including clean code, error handling, logging, and testing.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision.
  • Active participation in extracurricular technical activities such as content writing, hackathons, or open-source projects is a strong plus.
  • Enthusiastic about teamwork, continuous learning, and contributing effectively to team outcomes.
