About Model Development Team

The Model Development group focuses on developing industry-leading stochastic catastrophe models for the quantification and management of catastrophe risk. Within this group, the Exposure Development team focuses on developing data sets of economic and insured property exposures for our natural catastrophe models. Such products are essential not only for the model development process, they also are a key component of the RMS product line and provide a wealth of valuable information for our clients.

Internship Details

  • The candidate will join the Exposure Development team based in India.
  • This role involves supporting the development of Exposure Models.
  • The candidate will participate in primary research necessary for developing and implementing these models.
  • They are also expected to acquire knowledge of the relevant technologies and analytics required for the development of RMS products.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with research on data sets and analytics required for exposure development across different global geographies, utilizing public and/or open-source data when accessible.
  • Contributing to the research for creating valuation models for various building types and infrastructure.
  • Investigating and analyzing the characteristics of property insurance markets worldwide.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or be currently enrolled in an accredited institution in the fields of Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Urban Planning, Remote Sensing, or Geoinformatics.

Required Skill Sets

  • Practical IT expertise, especially in R, Python, or SQL.
  • Understanding of building construction methods across different countries, with a focus on the social and cultural factors influencing growth and development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Capable of researching and resolving issues.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • A keen interest in Catastrophic Risk Modeling and the Property Insurance sector.
