About IIT JDP Research Programme 2025
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the 23 IITs created to be Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India.
Established as College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed as “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. It was then accorded the status of a Deemed University with powers to decide its own academic policy, to conduct its own examinations, and to award its own degrees.
Eligibility
- A student should have completed the first year of their PhD program, including the comprehensive examination conducted at IIT Delhi.
- The student and their PhD advisor should have identified a supervisor at NYCU.
- Course Requirement: The student should have completed coursework at IIT Delhi and must be in the top 1/3rd of their class in at least 3 courses.
- Any other criteria that may be specific to IITD which will be notified from time to time.

Application Procedure

- Consent for Supervising IIT Delhi PhD Student (Click Here To Download)
- Note: Student should mark a copy of all correspondence related to JDP to the Coordinators at IIT Delhi & NYCU
Screening and Acceptance
- Screening at NYCU: Submit your application to NYCU for screening.
- Notification of Acceptance: Wait for the notification of acceptance as a JDP student from NYCU.
- Admission Confirmation: Upon acceptance, receive a confirmed list for admission in JDP.
Reporting and Supervisor Inclusion
- Reporting to their respective DRC/SRC/CRC (Student Advisory Committee; SAC) at IIT Delhi.
- Inclusion of the name of the NYCU supervisor.
NYCU Residency
- Proceed for NYCU residency at NYCU after obtaining approval from SAC at IIT Delhi and in consultation with your NYCU supervisor.
- Complete your coursework requirements at NYCU.
- Meet the qualifying examination requirements of NYCU during your stay.
- Note: If coursework at IITD is incomplete, finish the required coursework before proceeding. The residency period will be 12 to 18 months maximum at NYCU. Beyond 18 months, the student will not be entitled to receive a scholarship from the Home institution during their stay at NYCU.
Progress Evaluation and Completion
- Have your progress evaluated every six months by the respective SAC at IIT Delhi.
- Complete your research work.
- Proceed to submit your synopsis.
- Fulfill any additional requirements prescribed by IIT Delhi and/or NYCU.
