About NITI Aayog
NITI Aayog was established on January 1, 2015, through a resolution by the Union Cabinet. The Governing Council of NITI Aayog consists of the Chief Ministers of all states and union territories with legislatures, along with the Lieutenant Governors of the other union territories.
About Internship
Undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as research scholars, from recognized universities and institutions in India and abroad, can apply for the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme. They will work closely with the various verticals, divisions, and cells of NITI Aayog. Applicants must apply online by filling out the registration form.
Purpose
This will allow short-term exposure of “selected candidates ” as interns to the different Verticals/ Divisions/Units of NITI Aayog, Government of India.
Objectives
- To allow young academic talent to be associated with the NITI Aayog’s work for mutual benefit.
- The interns shall have an opportunity to learn about the government’s functioning and developmental policy issues in India and contribute to policy formulation by generating policy inputs such as empirical analysis, briefing reports, policy papers, etc.
Eligibility
- Bonafide students from any recognized university or institution, either within India or abroad, who meet the following criteria, are eligible to apply for the internship:
- UG students who have completed or appeared for the term-end exams of the second year (4th semester) of their bachelor’s degree program and have achieved a minimum of 85% or equivalent marks in their 12th grade.
- Graduate students who have completed or appeared for the term-end exams of the first year (2nd semester) of their post-graduate program, or those pursuing research/PhD, with a minimum of 70% or equivalent marks in their undergraduate degree.
- Students who have appeared for or completed their final exams in Graduation/PG and are awaiting admission for further studies may also apply for internships, provided they have secured 70% or more cumulative marks in all years/semesters of their graduation/post-graduation up until the date of application.
- The gap between the declaration of the final exam result and the desired internship month should not exceed six months. For instance, if the result is declared in June, the applicant can apply for an internship starting from December 1st.
Duration
The internship period shall be at least six weeks but not exceeding six months. Interns who do not complete the requisite period will not be issued a certificate.
