Privacy Engineering Intern at Calix

Job Description

Calix provides the cloud, software platforms, systems and services required for communications service providers to simplify their businesses, excite their subscribers and grow their value.

They are looking for a motivated Product Cybersecurity Intern to join the team and help secure their products. You’ll work on real-world security challenges, conduct security assessments, and improve the security posture of our applications and services.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and security reviews of web and cloud-based products.
  • Help identify and remediate insecure code patterns, hardcoded secrets, and misconfigurations.
  • Support the integration of security tools (e.g., SAST, DAST, dependency scanning) into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work with DevOps and engineering teams to implement secure development best practices.
  • Research and document evolving cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in security incident response exercises and root cause analysis, if applicable.

Qualifications

  • BE degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, privacy engineering or related field of study.
  • Should have graduated in 2023 / 2024.

Required Skill Sets

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills in leading or contributing to global and multi-functional teams.
  • Experience or understanding of software applications design tools and languages.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of software engineering fundamentals consisting of front-end applications, databases, ETL, analytics machine learning, and system architectures.
  • Data literacy: finding and managing data, cleansing data, manipulating data.
  • Ability to perform operations on large datasets.
  • Experience building products and services with an existing sample portfolio of written product summaries, detailed data flows, and similar documents.
  • Demonstrated interest in privacy and corporate security (e.g., completion of IAPP courses, CIPM/CIPT/CISSP certifications, or familiarity with privacy principles.)
