About IIT J
The Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu is a public research university located in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The academic programme at IIT, Jammu follows the curriculum of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) to begin with. IIT Jammu will evolve its own curriculum with time.
Thus, in the first year, all students, irrespective of the branch, will undergo the same curriculum. In the first year, the students would do courses on basic sciences and basic engineering. In addition, non-graded courses on language, professional ethics & social responsibility and introduction to engineering are also included.
The institute will follow a credit system and the performance in a course will be continuously evaluated. A relative grading system will be followed. The institute offers Bachelor of Technology (B.tech) degrees in various disciplines with intake capacity of 30 in each branch. The admission to these programs is done through Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE-Advanced).
About the Program
RISE-UP 2025: Research Internship in Sciences and Engineering: an Undergraduate Program. The program nurtures and promotes an undergraduate research culture among students by conducting an internship at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu. The internship provides an opportunity to closely work with the faculty members of IIT Jammu, access to laboratories to conduct project work while accumulating a valuable research experience.
Eligibility
- Preference will be given to the students who have good programming/technical skills and are willing to solve real-world challenges.
- Open to pre-final year graduate/undergraduate non-IIT Jammu students.

Application Process
- The minimum duration of internship is Six weeks from the start date. The internship begins from 20th May, 2025 till the end of July 2025.
- The internship period can be extended up to eight weeks with the mutual consent of the student and his supervisor at the IIT Jammu.
- Students must select one primary project and one secondary project based on his/her research interest. The student and his/her supervisor may change the problem statement with mutual consent.
- Students are required to upload all the educational documents, one-page CV, Bonafide Certificate from Head of Department (HoD)/ Head of the institution, Declaration letter by the parents and other related documents/certificates which will justify the potential of the student. The sample from the HoD/department and parent’s authorization letter can be found on our website.
- Uploading of duplicate and/or wrongly attached document/late and/or incomplete applications will not be processed.
- Before submitting the online application, please check that the information provided by you is accurate. You cannot make any changes to the online application once it has been submitted.

- The Application portal will open from April 01, 2025.
- The deadline of the online application submission is April 15, 2025, 11:59 pm.
- The results for the RISE-UP will be announced on or before April 30, 2025.
- The internship is fully offline.
- The list of selected interns will be announced on or before April 30, 2025.

Financial Aid
- The students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 13,000/- during the course of internship.
- Hostel accommodation will be provided to all the summer interns, and students are required to pay the applicable hostel and mess charges, check the Hostel/Mess Declaration form that includes information of applicable charges.
