The National Human Rights Commission India invites applications for the Short-Term Online Internship for 3rd Year & Integrated Course Students. The last date to apply is August 4, 2023.

About NHRC Internship 2023

The National Human Rights Commission has expressly been mandated to promote Human Rights literacy and awareness vides Section 12 (h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. With a view to spreading awareness among University students about the need for the protection and promotion of Human Rights, the Commission has been regularly conducting Internship Programmes since 1998.

Online Internship Details

For the Month of August 2023, the “Online Short Term Internship Programme -August 2023 (OSTI- August 2023)” will commence from August 21, 2023 (Monday) to September 1, 2023 (Friday) (12 days). Applications are invited from eligible students from the entire country. Eligibility and selection criteria will be as follows,

  • Students studying in 3rd year and onwards of any integrated 5-year PG Course.
  • Students studying in the 3rd/Final year of graduation course.
  • Students of any semester/year of any post-graduate degree course.
  • Students of any semester/year of any post-graduate diploma course.
  • Students who are research scholars in any stream.

Eligibility Criteria & Requirements

  • Students must have consistently attained a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent courses (all semesters) including the presently pursued courses.
  • The calculated percentage has to be mentioned clearly from their CGPA/SGPA along with the formula for the percentage obtained.
  • Failure to do either of it so would result in the rejection of the application form.
  • Co-curricular activities, internships, moot court participation, successful research projects undertaken, and work/projects with NGOs are the few illustrated criteria for enhancing the chances of selection.
  • A 250 words write-up on the topic “Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship” will be required to be submitted by the applicants online along with the application form which will also serve as a basis of selection.
  • Students who have research potential in the areas relating to human rights will be preferred (to be indicated in the write-up).
  • Enclose Self-attested scanned copies of the Mark-sheet from 12., standard onwards and the mark sheet for each year/Semester of Graduation & presently pursuing the course and the Letter of Recommendation (LOR)Int concerned HOD/Dean/Principal which should be of a date subsequent to the date of uploading of this advertisement and for the presently pursued course.
  • Scanned Self-attested mark sheets of 12 Standard, All Semesters of Graduation Course & marks sheets of all semesters of Pursuing Course.
  • Scanned Statement of Purposes (SOPs) and
  • Scanned Recommendation letter/email by HOD/Dean/Principal concerned in the annexed Proforma.
  • Students who have attended earlier Internship Programmes organized by NHRC will not be eligible to apply.

Internship Duration

  • This is a full-time Internship Programme from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm (Monday to Friday).
  • Students must ensure their availability before applying.

Age Limit

The student should not be more than 28 years old as of July 2023.

How does it work?

  • You’ll be briefed course structure of the Online Short Term Internship – (August 21 to September 1, 20231 would be as stated below,
  • About 45-50 sessions on various human rights issues are proposed to be covered to sensitize the interns.
  • The OSTI- 2023 will include the following inputs:
    • Address/Interaction with Hon’ble Chairperson and Members of NHRC and other domain Experts including senior Govt. of India Officials.
    • Group Project work on Human Rights issues.
    • Book Review to be submitted by the students.
    • Films on Human Rights & Discussion – Child and Bonded Labour issues, Anti Trafficking, Health including mental health and Education issues and discussions.
    • Virtual Field Visit
      • A virtual visit to Jail
      • Virtual field visits Police Station.
      • Virtual field visit to NGO

The students get to see the working of these institutions and may get their related questions addressed.

Stipend

  • All the student interns successfully completing the internship would receive a stipend of Rs. 2000 (Rupees Two Thousand only).
  • Certificate of participation will be awarded to the candidates on the basis of the following parameters:
    • Attendance,
    • Punctuality,
    • Discipline,
    • Participation in online sessions is mandatory;
    • Group Project Presentation & Project Reports and Book Review

  • Application to be submitted Online using link – Online Short Term Internship available at NHRC website.
    All the applications should be submitted through this online platform only.
  • Please ensure that the application for OSTI August 2023 is duly filled.
  • Applications submitted otherwise will not be accepted.
    Kindly note 4 Incomplete applications without self-attested copies of mark sheets (10* Class, 12. Class, All semesters of Graduation Course & pursuing Course),
  • Letters of recommendation & SOPs etc. will be rejected and Applications sent through e-mails/posts will not be entertained.
  • No application will be accepted after the deadline i.e. August 4, 2023 (11:59 pm).
  • The Final List of Selected Interns will be displayed on the NHRC website.
