Job Description: Intern at Medtronic
As an Intern in the Software Test Engineering team at Medtronic’s Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) group, you will be part of an innovative and highly collaborative environment, supporting the development of formal software tests for cardiac ablation systems. You will assist with test development, both manual and automated, and help ensure the reliability of life-changing medical products. This hands-on role will allow you to work closely with experienced engineers and gain exposure to the medical device industry’s software testing practices.

Desired Skill Sets and Experience
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of software development and testing principles.
- Familiarity with programming languages like C#, Python, or scripting languages.
- Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills in software testing, automation, and medical device software validation.
- Preffered Skills/Competencies:
- Basic knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Microsoft Visual Studio, Test Manager, Appium, or Squish).
- Familiarity with manual testing processes and some experience with test automation is a plus.
- Understanding of Windows or Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge or coursework related to FDA software validation requirements or medical device standards (e.g., IEC 62304) is an advantage.

Responsibilities
- Test Case Development: Assist in creating, executing, and organizing test cases for Windows-based software integrated with mechanical and electrical systems.
- Manual and Automated Testing: Participate in both manual and automated testing efforts, collaborating with senior engineers to help execute software tests using tools such as C#, .NET, and Python.
- Data Analysis: Help analyze test results, document findings, and provide suggestions for product and process improvements.
- Test Automation Support: Learn and contribute to the development of test automation scripts under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Documentation: Assist in preparing test documentation, including test reports, traceability analysis, and validation results, in compliance with industry standards.
- Agile Development: Work within an Agile team environment, collaborating with scrum masters, product owners, and developers to ensure software quality.
- Continuous Learning: Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and take initiative to learn about new tools, technologies, and best practices in software testing.
- Support Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with different engineering disciplines and other teams (Quality, Manufacturing, etc.) to support the overall product development process.
