About IIT Goa
Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) is an autonomous premier engineering and technology university located in Goa. Ever since an IIT was allotted to Goa by the Central government in 2014, the new Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Goa started functioning in July 2016 in a temporary campus housed at Goa Engineering College (GEC) Campus.
About SERB
SERB aims to build up the best management systems which would match the best global practices in the area of promotion and funding of basic research. The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) is a statutory body established through an Act of Parliament. Supporting basic research in emerging areas of Science & Engineering is the primary and distinctive mandate of the Board. The Board structure, with both financial and administrative powers vested in the Board, would enable quicker decisions on research issues, greatly improving thereby our responsiveness to the genuine needs of the research scientists and the S&T system.

Objective
To groom postgraduate students in their scientific career pursuits by developing dedicated research skills through research internships in the field of spectroscopy.
Scope
The scheme is meant to support regular PG-level students who have a strong orientation towards scientific and engineering research and are pursuing their degree from a University/Institution within India in the fields of Science and Engineering and have an interest in scientific research
Eligibility
Students in the pre-final year of MSc or Integrated BS-MS in Chemistry or Physics or allied branches.
No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Supervisor/Head of the Department/Head of the Institute, indicating their association with the institute and allowing their student to undergo internship if selected.
Selected
- Selection will be based on academic achievements and the relevance of the internship to the applicant.
- Selected candidates will be intimated through email.
- Candidates will have to work at IIT Goa through the internship period.
Nature of Support
- Selected will be eligible for Travel Allowance reimbursement for their journey to the host institute, as per GoI norms.
- Necessary expenses, such as accommodation, food etc., will be met by the internship.
