About IIT Guwahati

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) is a public technical university established by the Government of India. It is located in the Amingaon area, North Guwahati Village area, in the state of Assam. It is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology established in India. The government of India officially recognizes IIT Guwahati as an Institute of National Importance.

Qualification

PhD with first class in the preceding degree or equivalent in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record

Experience

Assistant Professor Gr I (Pay level 12): An Assistant Professor with a PhD and with a first class in the preceding degree or equivalent in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and at least 3 years of teaching/research/industrial experience, excluding however, the experience gained while pursuing PhD.
Assistant Professor on Gr II (Pay level 10 & 11): This is not a regular cadre of the Institute. PhD without adequate experience are eligible for the post of Assistant Professor on a contract basis.
Minimum qualification and/or experience requirements may be relaxed for outstanding candidates.

Other Important Information

Pay and allowances will be as per GOI rules.
Preferably, the candidates should be below 35 for the Assistant Professor post.
Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates is applicable per Government of India norms. Age relaxation in upper age limit in case of SC/ST = 5 years, OBC-NCL = 3 years, and PwD = 5 years (10 years for SC/ST and 8 years for OBC candidates). Reserved category candidates must upload their self-certified valid SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD certificate issued by the Competent Government Authority in the prescribed format supporting their claim. Please note that the OBC-NCL or EWS certificate must be a valid, current certificate issued by the appropriate Authority as per GOI norms. Original certificates will be verified during the interview.
Degrees obtained by the candidate must be from a recognized University/Institute.
All Educational qualification certificates (from the 10th onwards), including the date of PhD award, must be uploaded.
All Experience certificates with the employer’s signature and seal must be uploaded.
The CV attachment must contain your short—and long-term research plan, highlighting your current and past research interests and achievements.
Candidates working in Government / Semi Government Organizations or Educational Institutions must apply through the proper channel OR provide a No Objection Certificate while applying or at the time of the Interview.
If a candidate is applying for a faculty position in more than one Department or school, separate applications must be sent.
Incomplete applications (without relevant data/certificates) may not be considered for shortlisting.
The Institute reserves the right to call for interview only those candidates shortlisted based on their qualifications, experience, and requirements of the concerned Department/School. Mere eligibility will not vest any right on any candidate for being called for an interview. The decision of the Institute in all matters will be final.
No correspondence will be entertained from the candidates regarding the reason for not being called for the interview/outcome.
