About APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship
The Department of Minority Welfare has launched a new scholarship known as APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship Kerala in collaboration with the Government of Kerala. financial assistance is allocated to the economically weaker section to pursue their diploma courses. This scheme helps students afford a good education without having to endure financial burdens.
Benefits
The following are the benefits which will be provided to the selected students under APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship Kerala
- A scholarship of Rs. 6,000 per year for a diploma course.
- Preference will be given to the BPL community.
- This scholarship will be distributed among the Muslim and Minority Communities in a percentage ratio of 80% and 20% respectively.
- If there is no candidate left of the BPL category then the students who fall part of the non-creamy layer of minority communities will be taken under this scheme.
- 30% of the scholarship is reserved. This reservation is made to promote girl participants.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
- A permanent resident of Kerala
- The candidate must have passed their class 12th examination
- He/She must be studying in a government or government-aided Polytechnic
- The applicant must belong to the BPL category
- He/She must have a working bank account in any of the National Bank
- The annual income should not exceed more than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum
