About Lady Meherbai D Tata Trust Awards
The Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Trust awards scholarships to Indian women graduates of
reputed universities who wish to pursue higher education abroad. This support is specifically
aimed at covering part of the tuition fee component.
The Trust invites applications for the academic year 2024-2025 for the following courses of study
listed below. The focus and concentration of study must be on issues related to women and children in all
the below mentioned subjects.
- Child Health – Development and nutrition
- Communication for Development
- Counseling
- Education – Teachers’ training programme
- Education and welfare of children with special needs
- Gender Studies:
a. Violence against women and children (including domestic violence and by others,
meaning violence at home and by others.)
b. Issues concerning Indian women as singles, single mothers, and married women - Health Policy and Health Education – Mental health
- Human Rights
- Law (for women’s and children’s issues and not any branch of law)
- Needs of adolescents
- Psychology (Cognitive, Clinical, Counseling, Health, Teaching, Learning and Social)
- Public Health (Community health services, Reproductive health, Epidemiology)
- Urban poor and Rural Community Development
- Public Policy, Public Administration, Social Policy, Social Development
- Research and study of social norms in communities
- Social work – in areas such as women in prison
Eligibility
- Indian women graduates from a reputed university are deemed eligible for the Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Trust Awards 2024.
- A consistent and remarkable academic record.
- Candidates are required to have ALL their results in hand, to be considered eligible to
submit their application. Individuals still awaiting their results are not eligible to apply.
(this requirement applies to those who have completed their bachelor’s degree and have
their results in hand) - Must have applied for admission, or preferably secured admission, to reputed universities
or institutions in the United States, UK or Europe for the year 2024-2025. - Graduates with at least two years of relevant paid work experience are desired for Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Trust Awards 2024.
How to Apply?
- Steps to request for a link to the application form:
- In order to get the link to download the application form, kindly send an email with the
requested information, to the specified email id – igpedulmdtet[at]tatatrusts[dot]org giving: - The name of the course and specialisation you wish to pursue and the duration.
- Please write about 6 to 7 lines highlighting the main features of the course you have selected to study and the reason you would like to pursue it.
- Name/s of the University/ies to be attended, in order of merit of your choice.
- The reason behind your decision to choose the University of your studies. Please provide a brief explanation in about 4 lines.
- Kindly inform us about the status of your admission – whether it is confirmed or conditional or sought along with the course fee for each course.
- List the sources through which the fee for your study will be funded, along with the
amounts. - About 4 to 5 lines on what you are currently doing.
- Please respond point wise in the manner as given.
- In order to get the link to download the application form, kindly send an email with the

response to your request for admission, in order of your preference, in a PDF, word or excel
format only, (no google or any other links are allowed). Kindly label the document
appropriately. - Incomplete requests from candidates will not be considered by the Trust office and further
correspondence will not be entertained. - Sharing the link with the candidates will be at the discretion of the Trust office.
Selection Process
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend either an in-person or an online interview
with the board of trustees on a designated day in late June or July 2024, details of which will
be communicated later. - Requests for a link to the application form will be accepted from candidates from:
- Friday, March 22, 2024, to Thursday, April 25, 2024; till 6.00 pm.
- No requests will be accepted after: April 25, 2024; 6.00 pm.
- All requests received after the last date and time will stand null and void.
- Candidates are requested to fill in and submit their application form by April 27, 2024, 6.00 pm, as there will be no access to the form after the given date and time.
- The last date to accept the required documents by the Trust office on the designated email ID is Thursday, May 02, 2024, 6.00 pm.
- Please note that the above-mentioned dates will be strictly adhered to.
- After scrutiny of the forms, only the shortlisted candidates will receive an email from the Trust office by end-June 2024.
- Candidates who are pursuing part-time, short-term, correspondence courses, exchange programs, undergraduate courses, distance learning, and those who have yet to receive their final bachelor’s degree marksheets or have already commenced their studies abroad or are proceeding to countries besides those mentioned above, are NOT eligible to apply.
Amount
A gift scholarship towards part of the tuition fee component is awarded to the selected student, approximate value ranges from rupees three lakhs to rupees six lakhs, based on the candidate’s performance in the interview.
