About Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Young Research Fellowship
In reverential memory of the late President and Scientist Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam, TERRE Policy Centre instituted the scheme for the Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam Young Research Fellowship to distinguish young Researchers from India with extraordinary promise and creativity who have made notable research contributions in the field of Environmental protection. However, this fellowship has been solely managed and funded by TERRE.
Eligibility
The fellowship of an Academy medal to a Young Researcher shall be made in recognition of notable contributions or having a measurable impact on the protection/overall improvement of the environment based on work carried out in India. Following is an indicative but not exhaustive list of work areas concerned:
- Plastic
- Clean Air
- Agriculture
- Technology and Innovation
Qualifications
- Academic eligibility -Undergraduate, Masters in any field or appearing (M.Sc, MA, M.E and PHD or appearing
- Any citizen of India who has not attained the age of 25 years on 31st December of the year preceding the year of fellowship shall be eligible.
Nature of Fellowship
The fellowship awarded will be up to INR 25,000 (Rs. Twenty-five Thousand only), and the minimum fellowship amount will be INR 10,000 (Rs. Ten Thousand only), along with a certificate.
Procedure of Submission
Adequate publicity shall be given to invite applications for the Prize each year. The total period for inviting nominations shall be 90 days from the date of registration starts; however, publication of the advertisement may be in advance. Besides publishing an advertisement in prominent newspapers for adequate publicity, a circular inviting applications shall also be sent to all colleges and Universities in India.
