Qualifying for the UGC NET Examination is a mandatory requirement for the grant of a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the pursuit of a PhD, and the appointment as an Assistant Professor in colleges and universities nationwide.

This Examination tests young postgraduates’ Research, Teaching Aptitude, and Subject Matter Expertise.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts this examination twice yearly for the University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC designed the syllabus and examination structure.

The exam has two Papers. Paper 1 intends to assess the candidate’s teaching/ research aptitude. It will also test the candidate’s reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.

  • Paper 1 has 50 questions and carries 100 marks.
  • Paper 2 is based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge.
  • Paper 2 has 100 questions and carries 200 marks.

NoticeBard has developed a rigorous online course with Lawctopus Law School as the knowledge partner to help you ace Paper 1 of UGC NET. This three-month-long comprehensive course on Paper 1 covers all ten subjects on the Syllabus for Paper I of the UGC NET examination.
