Internship Details

Software Engineers (SWEs) at Microsoft collaborate closely with teammates to solve complex problems and deliver innovative software solutions. They demonstrate a strong passion for customer needs and product quality while offering technical guidance to Technical Program Managers and Product Managers, ensuring alignment with user requirements and business objectives.

In this role, engineers are expected to continuously adopt and apply new technologies, tools, and processes to strengthen their solutions. Their work spans the design, development, and testing of next-generation software aimed at empowering individuals and organizations worldwide to achieve more.

As interns, students have the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects alongside global teams. You’ll gain hands-on experience, build meaningful connections, and explore your passions in a dynamic environment. The program encourages interns to bring their ideas to life while working with some of the most advanced technologies in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to solve complex problems through sound and creative engineering.
  • Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
  • Quickly learns new engineering methods and incorporates them into work processes.
  • Seek feedback and apply internal or industry best practices to improve technical solutions.
  • Demonstrate skill in time management and completing software projects in a cooperative team environment.
  • Review current developments and proactively seek new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Must have at least 1 semester/term remaining following the completion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms
