About FAO
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Their goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. With 195 members – 194 countries and the European Union, FAO works in over 130 countries worldwide.

This initiative is designed to attract fellows with advanced technical knowledge and experience from fields relevant to the organization.
About the Opportunity
This programme is mainly targeted towards PhD students, researchers, and professors who are interested in fulfilling their specialized learning objectives and, at the same time, contributing their expertise and knowledge to FAO through time-bound arrangements. The assignments carried out should align with FAO’s Strategic Framework and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. It is important to note that FAO does not provide any remuneration to fellows.
Eligibility
- Candidates should be nationals of FAO Members
- Candidates should possess a graduate or post-graduate degree (Master’s or PhD), or be enrolled in a PhD programme
- Working knowledge of at least one FAO official language is required. Knowledge of a second FAO official language will be considered an asset
- There are no age limits
Required Skill Sets
- Candidates should be able to adapt to an international multicultural environment
- Good communication skills are necessary
- Knowledge of the use of basic computer programs is required
Qualifications
Candidates must have at least two years of relevant working or research experience in one of the fields of the Organization.
