Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar is a public technical university in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. The government of India has declared it an Institute of National Importance. Established in 2008, the IIT Gandhinagar campus is spread over 400 acres along the river Sabarmati.
IIT Gandhinagar is one of the eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2008. The institute began operating on a temporary campus at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Chandkheda, where it was mentored by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The first batch of students was admitted to three programmes: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.

Job Description
Applications are invited for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in a DST-sponsored three-year SERB-CRG project on Decentralized Security Orchestration and Management with Programmable Networking and Artificial Intelligence. The work involves developing a network monitoring platform, algorithms, and automation tools using programmable network devices like SmartNICS and programmable switches.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering or related areas (Information Technology/Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science) Or
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering or related areas (Information Technology/Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science) with a valid GATE score.
Desired Skill Sets
- Experience in computer networks, operating systems and system programming.
- Prior experience in C/C++, Java and with basic versioning system knowledge.
- Hands on experience in Unix/Linux networking tools, network stack and DPDK.
- Good mathematical background and foundations in ML/AI.
- Evidence of excellent coding skills and experience in writing research papers.
Duration
The candidates will be offered a position for 12 months, which will be extended based on the satisfactory performance of the candidate and availability of funds.
