Teach For India was founded in 2008. Inspired by Teach For America’s journey, we worked with McKinsey & Company to craft a blueprint around the belief that all children must attain an excellent education. Today, they are a movement of 900 Fellows teaching 33,000 children and 4,500+ Alumni who are collectively reaching 50 million children across India.
About Fellowship
The Teach For India Fellowship is an empowering movement to revolutionise education in India. As a Fellow, you gain invaluable teaching and leadership skills and join a vast network of like-minded educators, mentors, and alumni who become influential change agents and advocates for educational equity and social progress. Eligibility Criteria
You are eligible to apply for the 2024 Fellowship cohort if you:
- Completed graduation by June/July 2024.
- Must be applying for the first time for the 2024 Teach for India Fellowship cohort since July 2023.
- Must be a citizen of India or an Overseas Citizen of India(OCI).

Selection Process
The Fellow selection process has 3 stages. It is designed to understand your strengths and motivations for this role. If you can make it through all the stages, you are on your way towards a life-changing experience.
- STAGE I: Application Form
- Introduce yourself by sharing your academic and professional history and your interests, experiences, and motivations for joining the Fellowship. As Fellows teach in English, an online English Assessment evaluates your proficiency in the language as part of the online application.
- STAGE II: Phone Interview
- For some applicants, we want to know more, and we do so through a 30-minute phone interview.
- STAGE III: Assessment Centre
- The final stage of selection! Here, you’ll engage with Teach For India and other applicants through sample teaching, critical thinking, a group activity and an interview.

You may choose to indicate a placement preference during your selection process. While we cannot guarantee this, we try to match your preference to the needs of our schools and cities.
